Some poems written on a bus..

These are pretty basic, but i quite like them, only edited slightly, as sometimes i feel that the mood of a poem can be ruined by over-editing..

Excalibur

I see, I see
These awful shadows
company

An End, the dark
comes too fast,
free at last

Further further
Stuttered gasp
shaking her

The cast
holding in
Her sin, her last

Achilles

A lessened blow by hardened fist
around me, feelings, meaningless,
No effect from vicious pries
Yet heel that stings in sharp moonlight

Drowned almost, by mothers care,
Made stubborn, tough, always aware,
My instincts honed, with piercing blade
A child brought up to die, or fight

Sailed to war for fool kings pride,
Loyal men risking suicide
The face that launched a thousand ships,
brought death and woe, abyss.

Giftwrapped

I liked my chest,
it was a present.
Handed down through my family,
a thousand thousand years
(or so it seemed)

It never closed.
Yet hidden in shade,
and in the smallest corner,
that's where our hope arose
(glimmering in night)

Aftermath (Short Story/Prose)

Okay, so I haven't posted anything in absolutely ages, and to be honest i've been a little rubbish! but this is a piece of work that was part of my English portfolio, having just handed in, i thought i'd post it on the t'interwebs :)

Much love, i'll try and get some more stuff up soon!

Aftermath

I stumbled, almost fell, as I stepped forward into the frightening scene. My heart trembled as I rubbed my eyes in disbelief. Bodies, spread across seats, eyes shut tightly, tangled limbs everywhere. Remnants of last nights chaos scattered. Broken glass spread across the floor, instruments of disaster evident in the remains. Piercing rays shot through, blinding me. Life-giving sunlight, turned to torturous flame.
Josh, face contorted in some strange mad grin, lay in the centre of stained mosaic. Grasping glass in strange, victorious silence, its contents long since spilt. Movement as a sleek black shadow slunk toward me, brushing my leg with a rumble. The tiny panther shrugged, shirking over to the sleeping hero. Sparkling green eyes glared at me as the beast circled the fallen hero, a long blink of recognition as it made its rounds. A low growl, and the night climbed into my comrade's arms, settling down, as part of him.

Vague memories of another time, his flaming hair shaking as the deafening noise surrounds us. Bright lights and shaking bodies writhing in the moonlight. A boy, blonde and sleek, shouting warning. Two shrieking harpies, scratching and biting around him. Fright, as we are almost engulfed in the madness, separated from my friends again, as we are rudely shoved in different directions. Suddenly, another shout, all around us cleared with a brute strike. Guardian, Enforcer, Protector, there before they are ripped apart. One thrown away whilst the other wails. The boy, long gone whilst they struggled, leaving only destruction. Strange chemical stench remains, echo of their chaotic introduction.

Another brief shock wave, as a crash from above sent me spiralling. A mad rush to find the cause led to frantic scurrying upon dust covered stairs. Movement, shadow stalks beside me. Energised, ready for whatever may come, must have seen it all by now, tell myself . Faint noises from an upstairs room, I creep towards my fate. Door ajar, the curious shade strolls forward, pushing its way into the room. I follow, unknowing, into this strange new world.
A little respite, attempting to push through the crowds with small effect. There's never enough to go around, and when we've made it to the tap, its hard to keep our treasure safe from the horde. My efforts rewarded, I struggle back through the mess, to find my comrades with relief. Floodlights, as Guardian shouts threats, cajoling the crowd. We hide our small victories, running for shelter, evading the onrush of the masses. The shelter isn't far, and evading sirens and screaming, we run inside, is this our haven?

A sitting figure reclines against a window, smoke rising from a cigarette. Her puff of white hair and stained make-up reflect in the sun, ethereal in the shining light. Broken wired wings, sparkling dress, and bodies to either side of her, she plays nervously with the shadow. The window seat, a throne to her survivors majesty. She reclined lazily as she saw me, stretched, grinned and beckoned,

Morning, darling, I have the most perfectly frightful head”

Right then, today has been rather awesome so far, although my printer has died a horrible death, which is quite sad *sob* but still.. tempted to go outside, read some Pratchett, and have a doze soon, so thought i'd attempt to add an excerpt from something i started a while back :D

From "Just for the hell of it"

Kasanine was, like, bored. Like, totally, Bored, with a capital 'B'. She'd run through her team building exercises for the cycle, fleshed out some of her weaker drones, and gone through the punishment rota for the next three weeks work already. But really, she was rather disappointed, almost all of her minions had performed excellently, and she'd only gotten to incinerate two of them! Humph! One measly grunt, and a fallen angel with a tendency to drift. She'd have to work them harder tomorrow, can't have standards slipping, after all!
The Succubus thrust her exquisitely jeweled heels onto her diamond encrusted desk, kicking paperwork onto the floor as she did so, something about a reshuffle, that wouldn't affect her department anyway, she'd have a finance minion deal with it. Examining delicately manicured nails, she flicked a button on her desk, opening a screen near her. An apparition filled the screen, a demon with flames covering his body, skin covered in intricate tatoos, shining blonde hair, a rather sharp little goatee beard and very little in the way of clothing. "Brother!" Kasanine sulked "I find myself with nothing to do.. All my minions are performing disgustingly well, its just not Faaiir"
The demon on the screen grinned "Problems, sister? Its unlike you to be so eager to find more work"
"Kayan, dearest, i miss our playchamber, these mortals bore me.." Kasanine pressed another button, and a scream echoed from her offices "Oops, slipped! Why does the mistress make us play this silly game anyway, i almost miss the fire and brimstone days, at least then i could get a good drink"
"I'll have a look, see if i can find you a game to play, sister" Kayan reclined, the flames around him forming into a chaise longue "In the meantime, come see us soon, Ignatius missed you, and mother dearest is beside herself without you around"
"I shall, I shall," Kasanine leant to tap the button again "I can leave the office with the supervisors for a while"

Heat.. (and "For You")

Lets be honest, its bloody lovely, for october, and therefore I expect that I might not be that popular for complaining :D but its bloomin' boiling! Possibly the fact that i spent most of today in the kitchen, like a proper little housewife, won't help, particularly.. But i do have awesome rolls, bread, and CAKE! So i'm quite happy, just a little frazzled ;)

Here's another rather old one, needing to be saved from the rather scraggly piece of paper it seems to be hanging on to. I thought it should be shared, as it was that desperate to stay around!

For You

Been with me through thick and thin,
Kept me, through health and ill
Gave me reason to survive again
Time, when no-one paused

If Angels saw, and frowned,
We never saw their gaze,
Always stood our ground,
And fought for Us, Alive

I'll keep you close forever,
Whether seas around us part,
Though our pairing severed,
There'll always be our Heart.

Eternity, seemed so long,
Time soars around us,
Shadows seem to throng,
Echo, Silent Song

Patio Furniture (1)

This poem isn't finished, and its still just a shadow of the original, which i lost a while back.. consider the first public draft, it still needs a lot of tweaking..

Patio Furniture

We've sat here a million times,
talking endlessly,
'bout things we'll do,
how theres always something new

Thousand cigarette butts
keep us company,
crystal neon streetnight,
our starlit ocean shining bright.

Hundred empty bottles,
never bothered to clear away,
glinting silver bottle caps
Sparkling littered collapse.

Ten minutes seemed like days,
forgotten dreamlike haze
alcohol to sober us,
day to sleep, ease us.

One, just us, in the end,
when piercing sunlight comes,
Jumps upon us, fire alight,
We go in peace, with the night.
